On Tuesday night, the Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) granted a variance to the development standard request from Dunkin' Donuts, located at 2124 North Michigan Street.
The request was to allow one additional sign over the ordinance maximum. The C-3 commercial district allows a business to have four signs, but the branding requirements for corporate Dunkin Donuts are for five signs with two on the front, two on the drive-thru, and one side of the building.
Board member Paul Wendel asked if Plan Director Ty Adley knew what the signage on the top of the building would be and its dimensions.
Adley said the signs will all have to meet the regulations in the city ordinance. He went on to say, “Tonight it is only for whether to allow the fifth sign.
Mr. Patel, the applicant, said the additional sign is in alignment with Dunkin Donuts. He explained that two of the signs are messaging signs, with one saying Something fresh is always brewing and the second one saying Plymouth runs on Dunkin.
During the public hearing, there were no comments for or against the request. The Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals approved the request as presented.
