The Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced the appointment of Matt Hovermale as its new Executive Director during last week's annual meeting. Hovermale, who has served on the Chamber board for the past year, brings over 25 years of management experience to the role.
"We are delighted to welcome Matt Hovermale as our new Executive Director," said Emily Hutsell, President of the Chamber's Board of Directors. "Matt's proven leadership abilities, deep connection to our community, and extensive management experience make him the ideal candidate to lead our Chamber forward."
Hovermale most recently served as General Manager at Swan Lake Resort, where he has worked since 2012, first as Assistant General Manager before being promoted to General Manager five years ago. A member of the Professional Golfers Association of America, he holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from Trine University and has spent his career in Northern Indiana after growing up in Anderson.

"Matt's contributions as a board member have already demonstrated his commitment to our Chamber's mission and his vision for our community's future," added Hutsell. "His insights during our board meetings and retreat have consistently shown the kind of forward-thinking leadership our Chamber needs."
Hovermale stated, “I want to start by thanking my wife Kristen for her support as I embark on this new journey. I also want to thank the Chamber Board of Directors for their faith and backing, and I look forward to working together with them to help businesses of all sizes in our community. I look forward to being an active part of our downtown area and having direct conversations with our members and potential members on how the Chamber can best be of assistance to them. I can’t wait to get started.”
The appointment follows an extensive search process initiated in October 2024, following the resignation of former Executive Director Connie Holzwart, who served the Chamber for approximately 10 years. The board conducted a thorough review of candidates from the Plymouth area and surrounding communities before selecting Hovermale for the position.
Hovermale resides in Plymouth with his wife Kristen and their two dogs, Ferris and Bueller.
