A Plainfield man was arrested Sunday afternoon after police say he was driving 83 mph in a 50 mph zone while intoxicated and without a valid driver's license.
On Sunday, October 4th, at 4:50 p.m., Patrolman Thornton with the Plymouth Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive. The stop was for traveling at 83 mph in a posted 50 mph speed zone.
While speaking with the driver, 38-year-old Arturo Isidro Morales of Plainfield, Officer Thornton learned that Morales had never received a driver's license. The officer also detected multiple odors of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver.
Morales completed standardized field sobriety tests and submitted to a chemical test, which found his blood alcohol level to be over double the legal limit.
Morales was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on charges of operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license with a prior, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated — endangerment, and operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of .15% or greater.
