Kevin Demming, Project Supervisor from Rieth-Riley Construction and Jim Marquardt Plymouth's Street Superintendent have sent a letter to businesses and property owners that will be impacted by the upcoming street improvement project on the city's northwest side.
The City of Plymouth has contracted with Rieth-Riley Construction Company to reconstruct Commerce Street, Pioneer Drive, and Gary Drive. Construction is expected to begin on or after Monday, April 22 with an anticipated completion date of late May or early June, depending on the weather.
This project includes the complete removal and replacement of Commerce Drive and Pioneer Drive from U.S. 30 north to Gary Drive. Gary Drive will be milled and repaved with asphalt.
Starting Monday, April 22 Commerce Drive will be closed to thru traffic. Construction on Commerce Drive is anticiipated to take about a week. Also starting on Monday, April 22, Pioneer Drive will be narrowed and reduced to one lane in each direction. The Pioneer Drive project will be multi-phased to allow for proper traffic flow, with construction anticipated to take 2 to 3 weeks. Construction along Gary Drive will commence once Pioneer Drive is fully open. Gary Drive construction is anticipated to take 1 to 2 weeks.
Access to the front of business properties and driveways may be limited at times. Street parking will also not be permitted in the construction area. The City of Plymouth and Rieth-Riley Construction will be in contrct with impacted businesses to discuss access to and from their property. A detour route will be in place to maintain access to businesses.
