Nineteen members of the Plymouth High School Speech Team competed this past Saturday at the National Speech and Debate Association National Qualifying Northeast District Competition. The following 10 team members qualified for the Phoenix, Arizona National Tournament being held this June.
Meg Meredith Robinson in dramatic interpretation, Olivia Burch in humorous interpretation, Dariel Herrera and Jonathan Velasquez as well as Alex DeJarnatt and Claire Lewandowski in duo interpretation, Anne Blake in informative speaking, Cassidy Riddle in international extemp, Gloria Sullivan and Emily Garcia in programmed oral interpretation.
Tyler Travis and Maddie Harness will also be competing at Nationals after qualifying in Congress at the National qualifying tournament this past January.
The Plymouth Speech and Debate Team, coached by head coach David McKenzie and assistant coaches Eric Schaefer, Dan Tyree, Charlotte Tyree, Sarah McKenzie, Sarah Robinson, and Maggie Kubley are excited to be taking 12 team members to represent Plymouth High School and the community of Plymouth this June.
This coming weekend, 29 team members will be competing at the Indiana State Tournament being held at Fishers High School.
