Peebles 'humbled' with victory

Humbled.

That was the word Vermillion County District 2 Commissioner William Peebles used after securing a spot in the November general election.

Peebles held off challenges from Curt Phelps and Kody Zumwalt in the Republican primary, picking up 711 votes. Phelps was second with 478 and Zumwalt was third with 451 votes.

For Peebles, who was selected in a caucus to replace Tim Yocum after Yocum moved onto the Indiana Statehouse, the win was "humbling."

"I focused on my accomplishments, staying away from negativity in the race and focusing on the future of Vermillion County. I am excited about the upcoming general election. I don't plan to change my approach. Negativity and arguing doesn't fix the issues people are facing and doesn't even make good theatrics. We have to be willing to compromise and work hard to deliver results for our community. I have proven that I can deliver on that," Peebles told The Parke County Post.
