A passenger sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Shelbyville.
The collision was near the intersection of East State Road 44 and Duran Drive. Shelbyville Police responded just before 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Shelbyville Police report that the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, Noah Britt, 25, of Shelbyville, stated that he saw the other vehicle inching out of a parking lot into the roadway. Britt said that suddenly the 2018 Jeep Cherokee driven by Jeremy Haus, 31, of Waldron, pulled across the highway in front of him and he couldn’t avoid the collision.
The collision flipped the Jeep Cherokee onto the sidewalk in front of 306 Duran Drive.
Shelbyville Fire and EMT’s extricated Haus and a female passenger, age 29, from the overturned Jeep. Both drivers were examined at the scene and released.
The female passenger was taken to IU – Methodist for further evaluation. Shelbyville Police report she was thrown into the back seat of the Jeep. Her safety buckle was buckled and must have been sitting in front of it at the time of the crash.
