Parke Heritage High School and Parke Heritage Middle School FFA chapters held their awards program on April 27.
Members highlighted their many activities from throughout the year and special awards were presented.
Officer Awards are given to students who have gone above and beyond throughout the year. Earning Officer Awards were Rising Sun Award- Paisley Hartman and MaKenna Mager; Workhorse Award- Ryan Mathis and Emma Pezan; Unity Award- Raegan Ramsay; Washington Award- Emmylou Rader; Red, White, and Blue Award- Wesley Pratt; Shield of Friendship- Hunter McDaniel.
The chapter scholarship awards go to a group of individuals who have achieved high grades in agriculture classes and maintained an outstanding GPA while participating in numerous FFA activities. Earning this recognition were sixth grade- Kennedy Mager, seventh grade- Emelia Chapman, eighth grade- Hadley Grubbs, freshman- Emmylou Rader, sophomore- Stormi Swaim, junior- Kailey Seay, and senior- Treyton Burgess.
The Dekalb Agricultural Award recognizes an outstanding senior who has shown great dedication and responsibility to the agriculture program as well as leadership towards the future of Agricultural Education. This year’s recipient of the Dekalb Agricultural Award is Brayton Myers.
To help offset the group’s expenses at their various activities and events the annual fruit fundraiser was held. The top high school salesman was Jerrid Graves.
The Discovery Degree is for middle school members who have taken an agriculture class and have participated in an activity outside the classroom. Receiving the Discovery Degree were
Emelia Chapman, Julia Helderman, Max Jeffries, Eli Seay, Krede Shields, Hadley Grubbs, Cooper Kelly, Cora McElheny, Jenna Newnum, and Emma Pezan.
The Greenhand Degree is presented to members who have plans for an Supervised Ag Experience (SAE) and demonstrate knowledge of the creed. Earning this Degree were Emmylou Rader, Brooklynn McMullen, Wesley Pratt, Whitney Swaim, Titus Moore, Leon Goessi, and Noelle Blake.
The Chapter Degree is the highest award a local chapter can bestow. To earn the Chapter Degree, members must have a quality SAE, complete 10 community service hours, have a good scholastic record and have earned the Greenhand Degree. Recipients of the Chapter Degree were Isaac Pickel, Hayden Holcomb, Ella Norman, Julia Kelly, Stormi Swaim, Destinee Stevenson, Bradley McElheny, Kendall McKinney, Lydia Jeffries, Paisley Hartman, Lane Helderman, Klayton Burgess, Kenleigh Berry, Leah Maupin, and Sarah Thom.
The PHMS Chapter officer team for 2025-2026 were recognized. They are president- Julia Helderman; vice president- Eli Seay; second vice president- Max Jeffries; secretary- Emelia Chapman; treasurer- Bodie Thornton; reporter- Ellyrae Rader; and sentinel- Jackson Wrightsman.
The program concluded with the installment of the PHHS officers for the 2025-26 school year. They are president- Stormi Swaim; vice president- Ella Norman; second vice president- Emmylou Rader; secretary- Paisley Hartman; treasurer- Kennedy Mitchell; reporter- Hayden Holcomb, and sentinel- Julia Kelly.
Serving as chapter advisors are Hallie Jones, Colton McMullen, and Karysn Zenor.
