Parke County K9 assists in arrest

A Carbon man, who was barricaded in a building with a hatchet, found himself behind bars, thanks to the swift action of the Parke County Sheriff's Office and K9 officer Thor.

According to a police report, deputies began receiving tips on Friday about Joshua Hubble, 47, Carbon. Hubble was the Warrant Wednesday feature on social media, and officers from both the Parke County Sheriff's Office and the Clay County Sheriff's Office located Hubble on a property in Lena.

After searching several buildings, Thor alerted deputies to an individual in the top of a shed. Hubble began acting "erratic and resisting with a hatchet in his hands," according to the report. Officers deployed a taser, forcing Hubble to come down and be apprehended by police.

Hubble was arrested on two no bond warrants for a probation violation. He now faces charges of resisting law enforcement (a Level 5 felony), intimidation (a Level 5 and a Level 6 charge), criminal mischief (a Class B misdemeanor), and tormenting a police K9 (a Class A misdemeanor).

He was arrested and booked in the Parke County Jail. Court records show Hubble has prior convictions for theft and unlawful possession of a syringe.
