Authorities in neighboring Wabash County say one man was killed Monday, October 5th after being hit by a vehicle on Illinois Route 15.
Illinois State Police report the fatal mishap occurred around 8:15 p.m. involving a passenger vehicle and a male subject walking alongside the road. The Wabash County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 70-year-old Rudy Lee Calvin of Mt. Carmel. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries reported.
Illinois Route 15 was closed to vehicular traffic while the wreckage was cleanup up and was reopened early Tuesday morning.
An autopsy was performed Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death as part of the investigation into the accident circumstances, which remains ongoing.
