MORRISTOWN -- Asa Odum defeated a small field of racers while Arianna Roller bested 14 other Girl Scouts to claim the title of 2024 Derby Days champions.
Odum (photo, left), age 9, the son of Shane and Renee Odum, defeated Laikin Stout Saturday afternoon in the boys championship race to become a Derby Days champion in just his second year racing down the U.S. 52 hill in Morristown.
Roller (photo, right), age 10, the daughter of Gary and Alexis Goin, defeated Kaylie Thompson in the championship race to capture the girls championship. This was Roller’s second year competing in Derby Days.
All the competitors Saturday in the Derby Days races are in Morristown Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs.
The 76th Annual Derby Days festival started Thursday night with the Morristown High School soccer program alumni game.
The adult version of Derby Days racing happened Friday on North St. in Morristown.
The Derby Days parade through downtown Morristown Saturday preceded the scouts climbing into their soap box derby cars to begin racing.
