Bryceton Nunn, who plays wide receiver/defensive back picked off four passes, recorded a fumble recovery and caught a touchdown pass in a 42-13 win for the Tiger Cubs.
It has been said that life lessons can be learned on the football field, and Bryceton Nunn is living proof of that.
"I got into football because of my friends. The end of my sophomore year, I was in a really bad position, and football helped me turn my life around," Nunn told The Putnam County Post.
Not only has football helped turn Nunn's life around, Nunn helped turn around the young Greencastle football season last Friday night. On the road against West Vigo, Nunn, who plays wide receiver/defensive back picked off four passes, recorded a fumble recovery and caught a touchdown pass in a 42-13 win for the Tiger Cubs.
Nunn said it was a "crazy night" for him against West Vigo.
"It was a slow start for me at the beginning, but once I got that first interception, it was only up from there. It felt like every pass they put up no matter where and how far away it was from me, I got it in my hands. With the receiving touchdown, I knew it was going to be a game to remember not just for me, but for everyone who witnessed it. It was a very special night for me. I never thought I would be in a position like this," Nunn said.
After opening the season 0-2, Greencastle is 1-2 and returns home this Friday to take on rival South Putnam, who fell to North Putnam last week. Nunn is looking to even the record to 2-2 against the Eagles.
"We had a rough start in the beginning, but after the West Vigo win, we all got the spark we needed. We came together as a team and family and finally got back the chemistry we needed. The team can be really good, and we have a good chance to make it further than sectional if we put our mind to it," he said.
And, he admits he is coming in with newfound confidence after his big game.
"It helps my confidence a lot. The West Vigo game truly proved to me how good I can be even while battling an injury to my shoulder. I didn't let it faze me," Nunn said.
