Northeast Neighborhood public engagement open house on Wednesday moved to City Hall

Because of the fire at the Heartland Art Center last week, the Plymouth Forward 2040 Comprehensive Plan will hold the Northeast Neighborhood public engagement open house scheduled for this Wednesday, February 25^th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Council Chambers in City Hall.

The City will open its doors to business owners and residents for a critical planning session that will help determine the future of the Northeast Neighborhood over the next 15 years.

The meeting targets the Northeast Neighborhood study area, generally bounded by U.S. 30, U.S. 31, the CSX Rail, and Michigan Street, and will focus on gathering community feedback on development priorities, infrastructure improvements, housing, transportation, economic development, and neighborhood enhancements.

Unlike traditional public meetings, the session will feature an open-house style format with no formal presentations. Attendees can drop in at any time during the two-hour window to engage with interactive boards and stations designed to capture community input.

"This update is an important component of the City's ongoing Plymouth Forward 2040 Comprehensive Plan," said Ty Adley the City Plan Director.

The city is specifically encouraging residents, property owners, and business operators in the Northeast Neighborhood to attend, though anyone interested in the area's future is welcome to participate.

The digital survey will remain open until noon on February 26th, giving community members a 24-hour window following the in-person meeting to submit their feedback.

City officials emphasized that input gathered from both the meeting and the online survey will directly influence recommendations that shape the neighborhood's development trajectory.

The Plymouth Forward 2040 Comprehensive Plan represents a long-term vision for the city's growth and development through 2040. The Northeast Neighborhood update is one component of this broader strategic planning effort.

The open house this Wednesday, February 25, is open to the public and will be held in the second-floor meeting room of City Hall due to the fire at the Heartland Art Center last week.
