He left his position as a teacher and postponed completing his degree in Elementary Administration, moving with his wife Amy to the Chicago area. After staying home for a year with the couples newborn daughter Jamey, Tush taught in an elementary school in Glenview Illinois welcoming their second daughter Cynthia around that same time. After completing his administrative degree, he accepted a position as a 5th grade teacher and assistant principal at St. Joseph School in Wilmette, Illinois.
