In May of 2022 Plymouth Fire Chief Steve Holm and a sales rep from MacQueen Emergency, the company that sells Pierce Fire Apparatus, presented the final bid from Sourcewell for a new 2024 Pierce Velocity Pumper. The bid was $784,400. The City Council agreed to budget $800,000 to cover additional costs of loose equipment and any additional features that might be added to the fire engine. The council was told there would be a 24-month lead time on delivery.
On Wednesday, July 31st the Plymouth Fire Department took possession of its new fire engine, a 2024 Pierce Velocity Pumper.
This new fire truck is named “Engine 82” and was delivered to the Plymouth Fire Department on the 42nd anniversary of the tragic accident on State Road 17 that claimed the lives of five firefighters.
The truck is dedicated to Al Kriscunas, Dane Hoffhien, Randy Hansen, Brian Samuels, and Gary VanVactor, the five fighters who list their lives on July 31, 1982.
