A deep love of quilting, knitting and crocheting has turned into a business endeavor for two ladies.
Patchwork & Purl, 15 West Franklin St., Greencastle, will be a quilt and yarn studio and will hold a grand opening celebration to the general public June 27 at 12:30 p.m.
According to owner Rashall Harcourt, who owns the business with Erin Sinclair, the business will be a “welcoming, creative space where people of all skill levels could gather, learn and be inspired.”
“The idea came late last year as I wanted to open up a fabric and yarn store as I always seemed to have to travel far to get good products. Additionally, quilting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, you name it, has been a part of each of our families for generations and you will see when visiting the store and viewing the quilts or blankets on display. It was also realizing how special it would be to have a dedicated local space that offers both high quality supplies and a sense of community,” Harcourt told The Putnam County Post.
Harcourt said the studio will feature a carefully curated selection of beautiful yarns, high quality fabrics, patterns, tools and notions, as well as workshops, classes and community events.
“Whether you're just getting started or have years of experience, there will be something here for everyone. We’re especially excited to highlight locally made items whenever possible. Late fall we hope to have the second half of the space completed where we will have a sewing/classroom studio set up in the bottom portion of our building where classes can be held and you will be able to rent space to sew as well,” she said.
Sinclair echoed those sentiments.
“Rooted in small town values, we aim to provide high quality fabrics, tools and personalized guidance that empower creativity. At the heart of our shop is a commitment to fostering community, celebrating tradition and sparking joy in every stitch,” Sinclair said.
The two said they are “incredibly excited” to open a business in the community.
Already we are meeting so many wonderful people and the excitement is contagious! There’s something truly special about offering a space where people can slow down, create with their hands, and connect with others who share the same joy. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in and see the amazing things they’ll make here and from our offerings,” Harcourt said.
As for what the two enjoy most and are looking forward to with the business, it is the people.
“There’s something truly fulfilling about helping someone find the perfect yarn for their first sweater, or guiding a quilter through a new pattern and seeing their eyes light up with excitement. We love being part of those creative “aha” moments — when someone learns a new skill, finishes a project they’re proud of, or simply feels inspired being surrounded by color, texture, and community. It's not just about the materials — it's about the connections, the stories, and the joy of making something by hand,” Harcourt said.
Patchwork & Purl will be open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 765-301-9091.
