At around 1 a.m. Thursday, an apartment fire in Rockville brought together emergency responders from across Parke County in a coordinated effort to contain the blaze.
The fire occurred at 211 N. Lincoln Road, in the apartments behind the building formerly housing BJ’s Electronics. At this time, the fire is under investigation and no information has been released about what started it. All residents are safe and have been connected with the Red Cross for temporary housing.
The Rockville-Adams Township Fire Department led the response, with assistance from Parke County EMS, Rockville Police, Rockville Utilities, and fire departments from Bellmore, Marshall, and Montezuma. The fire proved challenging, requiring crews to manage multiple emergencies simultaneously.
Marshall Fire had to break away from the apartment fire to respond to another call at a local school, while Bellmore Fire stepped away to handle a medical emergency, according to a post from the Rockville-Adams Township Fire Department.
“It was GREAT teamwork by all,” the department shared in a social media statement, expressing gratitude to the responding agencies for their support during the busy night.
