Menominee Elementary School has been recognized by Solution Tree as a Promising Practices Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Work® for its success in improving student achievement through collaboration and data-driven strategies. This recognition places Menominee among only two schools in Indiana– just 101 schools nationwide earned this distinction.
The PLC at Work® process emphasizes three core principles:
- Focus on Learning
- Build a Collaborative Culture
- Create a Results Orientation
Over the past three years, Plymouth Community Schools has prioritized the PLC initiative, with Menominee Elementary staff working diligently to identify essential Indiana Standards, assess student proficiency, and implement targeted strategies to support and extend student learning. Through this process, educators ensure that all students receive the necessary support to achieve proficiency and beyond.
To achieve this recognition, Menominee Elementary provided evidence of: A strong commitment to the PLC at Work® process Implementation of PLC concepts for at least one to two years Clear evidence of improved student learning A detailed explanation of the school’s culture, practices, and structures submitted to the PLC Review Committee
Fourth grade teacher Bryan Kratzer reflected on the journey to becoming a Promising Practices School, saying, "Working toward this achievement has transformed the way we collaborate as a team, using data-driven decisions to guide our students toward proficiency and success."
"Being named a Promising Practices School is a source of great pride for us," said Principal Ryan Welch. "I’ve witnessed the staff at Menominee continuously adapt their practices to improve student outcomes, finding innovative solutions to ensure student success. The grit and perseverance of both staff and students is truly something our community should recognize and celebrate!"
Recognized schools are featured on AllThingsPLC.info, where they share their implementation strategies, structures, and results with other educators seeking to improve their own schools.
Menominee Elementary remains committed to its mission of achieving high levels of learning for all students through collaboration and targeted instruction. This recognition marks an important milestone in their journey toward becoming a Model PLC School.
