Marshall County thanks elected and appointed county officials for their service as they retire

Five individuals who served Marshall County's citizens through the county government were recognized by resolution during Monday’s commissioner's meeting as they retire at the end of the year.

County Attorney Jim Clevenger read resolutions honoring Commissioners Kevin Overmyer and Mike Burroughs.

The first resolution recognizes Kevin G. Overmyer's outstanding accomplishments and contributions. He was selected as a county commissioner on August 4, 1999, through a caucus and elected several times following. He served honorably the citizens of Marshall County in that capacity for 25 years and 5 months.   The resolution said Overmyer guided the county to accomplishments that were too numerous to recount for the betterment of Marshall County. The resolution goes on to say he and his family have provided exemplary service to their community.

The resolution states, “Commissioner Overmyer has earned the respect and admiration of citizens of Marshall County and beyond.”

The second resolution, read by the County Attorney, honored Michael D Burroughs, who was caucused as Commissioner on October 28, 2019, and then elected to the position.  He has served honorably as the county’s representative on MACOG, the U.S. 30 committee, and the County Drainage Board. He and his family have provided exemplary service to their community.  The resolution states that he has served the citizens of Marshall County honorably and with distinction for over five years and significantly contributed to the Board of Commissioners.  The resolution stated, “Michael Burroughs has earned the respect and admiration of the citizens of Marshall County and beyond.”

Commissioner Stan Klotz motioned to have both resolutions read into the record.  He also seconded their approval. 

Commissioner Klotz read resolutions honoring Marshall County Coroner John Grolich and County Treasurer Kelly Einspahr. 

John Grolich served the citizens of Marshall County as the coroner for 16 years.  He has also served as a former Fire Chief, Chief Paramedic, Chief Deputy Coroner, a local Emergency Planning Committee member, District Chairman of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association, President of the Indiana Coroners Association, and AIC Board member with distinction.  In the resolution, Grolich was honored for his outstanding leadership to Marshall County, and the commissioners recognized and acknowledged his dedication and commitment to the county. “The county pays tribute and extends its sincerest gratitude toward him for his service to the citizens of Marshall County.”  

Kelly Einspahr served the citizens of Marshall County for two years as Treasurer but has worked for Marshall County since 2005. She held several positions in the Auditor’s Office and the Treasurer’s Office. The resolution honored Einspahr's outstanding leadership and recognized her dedication and commitment to the county.   

County Commissioner Kevin Overmyer read the final resolution, which recognized County Attorney James N. Clevenger's outstanding accomplishments and contributions.  Jim Clevenger was appointed County Attorney in January 1997 and has served honorably for 27 years and through many changes.  He has significantly served the county commissioners and the county drainage board in his capacity as the County Attorney.  Clevenger has earned the respect and admiration of the citizens of Marshall County and beyond.
