The Marshall County Republican Party has scheduled a caucus to fill two upcoming vacancies, one on the County Council and the other for County Surveyor, following the planned resignations of two longtime officeholders.
Marshall County Councilman Jim Masterson has decided to resign his position on December 31, 2026. Masterson, an at-large representative, is currently serving his third term on the council that ends December 31, 2027.
Craig Cultice will resign as County Surveyor on January 1, 2027. Cultice is also in his third term, which was set to run through December 31, 2028.
The caucus will be held at the Marshall County Republican Headquarters, located at 117 Water Street in downtown Plymouth, at 6 p.m.
Any Republican interested in applying for the County Council seat or the County Surveyor's position must file a Declaration of Candidacy no later than 72 hours in advance of the meeting with Deborah VanDeMark, Chairman of the Marshall County Republican Party. The caucus is scheduled for November 18th.
Declarations should be sent to VanDeMark at P.O. Box 102 in Plymouth. For more information, interested candidates can contact VanDeMark at (574) 274-8325 or email their declaration to deb0831@outlook.com.
The caucus will allow precinct committee members and vice committee members to select replacements to serve the remainder of each term.
Both Masterson and Cultice have served multiple terms in their respective offices, and the caucus will mark a transition of leadership for two key positions in Marshall County government.
