Constitution Day, officially known as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, is an American federal observance celebrated every September 17 to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. This year, the observance holds special significance in Indiana as it coincides with the nation's broader celebration of America's 250th anniversary and a statewide push for civic education.
To mark the occasion, 48 judicial officers from across the state will meet with more than 4,300 students and civic group members to celebrate Constitution Day in September 2026. Indiana courts commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, with a program that brings judges into schools and out into their communities.
Locally, Marshall County Judge Tami Napier will visit Triton High School and Culver High School to speak with students about the Constitution and its enduring importance.
The program lets students learn about the nation's founding document directly from the judicial officers who work with it every day, bringing civics lessons out of the textbook and into the classroom.
