Marshall County Deputies make 3 impaired driving, drug-related arrests over weekend

Marshall County Sheriff's deputies made three separate arrests over three days last week, with impaired driving at the center of each incident.

The first came on Thursday, June 5, at approximately 12:34 p.m., after the Marshall County Sheriff's Department received multiple calls reporting a possibly impaired driver traveling south on Dogwood Road from Tyler Road. Deputies located the vehicle at the intersection of State Road 331 and U.S. 30. The driver, identified as Jeremiah L. Maller, 47, of Mishawaka, was investigated for operating while intoxicated and was found to have a blood-alcohol concentration of .19% — more than twice the legal limit. Maller was arrested and booked in the Marshall County Jail. His cash bond was set at $1,500, and he was issued a Superior II Court date of June 23, 2026. He faces charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person (Class A Misdemeanor) and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (Class C Misdemeanor).

Later that same evening, at approximately 9:00 p.m., K-9 Deputy Bennett conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 31 and 4A Road. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Mohamed Aamer, was found to have a suspended license — stemming from a prior driving while suspended offense. Deputies also discovered alcohol in the vehicle. Aamer was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on charges of Driving While Suspended – Prior and Illegal Possession of Alcohol by a Minor. His bond was set at $505.

The third arrest occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 7, when K-9 Deputy Bennett stopped a vehicle in the 2000 block of Michigan Street in Plymouth at approximately 1:30 a.m. The driver, identified as Anthony Kaercher, 47, showed signs of impairment. K-9 Officer Diesel conducted a free-air sniff and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Kaercher was taken to Plymouth Hospital for a certified chemical test before being transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a Person, and Possession of Paraphernalia. His bond was set at $1,505.
