Argos and Marshall County leaders will meet with state officials and regional planners this week to examine the economic effects of U.S. Highway 31 on the area.
The Marshall County Commissioners will host an information meeting on Friday, January 30, at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Room of the Marshall County Building, located at 112 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth.
Representatives from Governor Mike Braun's office, state legislators, the Town of Argos, and the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) are expected to attend the session.
The informational meeting will focus on discussing how the proposed changes to U.S. 31, running through Marshall County, will negatively impact Argos’ local economy. The highway serves as a critical transportation route connecting South Bend to Kokomo and beyond, making it vital to regional commerce and development.
The specific topic that will be addressed during the meeting is the economic impact and potential improvements to facilitate safety along the corridor.
The meeting is open to the public but will not be streamed on the county’s YouTube channel. Community members interested in the future of U.S. 31 and its role in Marshall County's economic development are welcome to attend.
