A week ago, on Wednesday, September 17th, a deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was patrolling U.S. 30 and U.S. 31 during the night and observed a vehicle traveling at 113 MPH in a 50 MPH speed zone.
The westbound vehicle was stopped, and while talking with the suspect, 39-year-old Corrinne Janda of Ligonier, displayed signs of impairment.
After an investigation by the county officer, Janda was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended license and was suspected of operating while intoxicated. She was booked into the Marshall County Jail with criminal charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangerment, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle while suspended with a prior. She was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
