Reports of a potential violent threat toward students at Lewis Cass Schools in Cass County resulted in a 15-year-old student being detained Monday. During a search, officers reportedly discovered a potential target list the student had made.
Lewis Cass Schools was put on lockdown Monday and a 15-year-old student was detained after reports were made that the juvenile had been making threats to other students.
According to a press release, Lewis Cass Resource Officer Tyler Hanna was alerted on Monday about the potential threat at the school and began an investigation after detaining the student prior to alerting school officials. The school was eventually put into lockdown procedure and a search warrant was obtained by other Cass County deputies. During the search, officers reportedly discovered further evidence of the threats, including a potential target list the student had made. No firearms were among the weapons possessed by the student.
Lewis Cass School administration staff, Cass County Juvenile Probation, Walton Police and the Cass County Prosecutor's Office assisted in the investigation of the threat. The incident is still being investigated by the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
