Johnson County authorities are investigating an early morning shooting.
Just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Heritage Lane in unincorporated Greenwood following a report of a person who had been shot.
Deputies located a juvenile male victim inside the residence with an apparent accidental gunshot wound to his leg. Deputies rendered aid until medics arrived and transported the victim for further medical treatment. Two other juvenile males were present at the scene and cooperated with the initial investigation.
The firearm involved was recovered from the residence. Detectives with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The case will be submitted to the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office for review for potential charges.
The injured juvenile was treated and released from the hospital.
