Penny Shaw of the J.D. Mullen Company based out of southeastern Illinois will be the guest speaker at the March meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society. The meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday the 25th at the History Center in downtown Lawrenceville. Shaw recently acquired the company and will present a program on the origin and history of the famous "Mullen's French Dressing" recipe. The dressing became extremely popular at local eateries after World War I that the company began bottling the dressing itself for individual customer sales. The company is still located in Palestine Illinois in neighboring Crawford County and still sells a variety of dressings nationwide. Shaw and her husband David also own Flying S, an aerospace company located near Palestine. The meeting is free and open to the public.
