Lawrenceville Police issue January activity report

It was a full month of activity for the Lawrenceville Police Department in January. That according to statistics released last week by Chief Jim White.

Lawrenceville Police received 325 requests for an officer during the month. They dealt with 16 drug investigations, 9 assault and battery cases, 7 incidents of theft, 3 incidents of vandalism and one case of a stolen vehicle. 

Officers made 18 felony arrests, 16 misdemeanor arrests, and issued 4 ordinance violations. There were 5 cases of child abuse and neglect, 8 cases of domestic intervention, and 4 calls dealing with mental health issues.

The department handled 11 traffic accidents-9 were property damage collisions. One involved personal injury and there was a single incident of hit and run.

Lawrenceville police lent assistance to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and Illinois State Police 5 times in January. They assisted emergency medical and fire personnel 6 times and the general public 11 times.
