Some modifications were approved by the Lawrenceville City Council to its contractual agreement with E.J. Water in regard to their operation of the city water system.
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is allowing the company to reduce its presence in the city from 5 days to 4 days per week after their work to rectify problems. The reduction will result in a substantial savings for the city.
Several ordinances were passed establishing city water and sewer rate increases recently approved by the council. One ordinance prohibits vehicle parking on both sides of 15th Street (Illinois Route 1) inside city limits. Another amends the water purchase contract between the city and the Petrolia Water District.
The council voted to keep the same city employee timekeeping system with some modifications upon recommendation of the finance committee and Police Chief Jim White set trick or treat hours for 5 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 31st. (Halloween).
