After dealing with a combine fire, a cornfield fire and two other field fires over the Labor Day weekend, the fire chiefs in Lawrence County (IL.) have issued a burn ban till further notice.

All residents are asked to refrain from outdoor burning of leaves, brush and yard-waste, trash and debris, and agricultural fields. No open recreational fires. People are also asked to be careful not to discard cigarettes or other burning materials outdoors.

The ban was issued due to the continuing hot, dry conditions which have created a high fire danger. It will remain in effect until conditions improve and it is determined that outdoor burning can safely resume.
