Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) officials have informed GIANT-FM News that the burn ban has now been lifted.
As of Monday, September 22nd, the fire chiefs from Denison Township, the Lawrence-Allison Fire Protection District (LAFPD), the Bridgeport Fire Protection District (BFPD) and Christy Township announced that they had rescinded the burn ban which had been implemented back on Monday, September 8th due to extremely dry conditions. Substantial rainfall over the region in the last 24 to 48 hours has lessened the threat of fire outdoors, leading to the decision.
However, local officials remind residents and property owners to still be vigilant and attentive to outdoor fires and make sure water is available. People are advised not to burn outside in blustery, windy conditions.
