The LaVille Culinary Arts program was well represented in the Giant FM WTCA studio on Monday. Jyll McNeil and three of her students came in to talk about the March Meal Madness program competition they are participating in with Cultivate Food Rescue. No neighbor hungry, no food wasted is the vision at Cultivate Food Rescue.
The program works to reduce hunger and food waste in northern Indiana by recovering excess, quality food and redistributing it to school children, food pantries, shelters, and more. Through strategic partnerships, they are a leader in perishable food rescue, procurement, redistribution, and education to meet the nutritional needs of communities.
The March Meal Madness program is a competition between 20 area teams; made up of schools, organizations, and businesses. Each team competes by raising money, packing meals, and getting the most social media hype. When the LaVille team had their meal packing day, they packed over 2100 meals in 2 hours! These meals are used to feed local school children and other folks with food insecurity.
Please consider helping these young people, as they work to help those less fortunate in our community. Every dollar you donate is a point for the LaVille Culinary Arts team! Monthly Donors get double the points!
