Despite some public objections, the Knox County (Ind.) Commissioners have approved two economic development agreements for two pending solar energy projects in the county.
One is for the Edwardsport Solar Park and the other for the Unser Solar Project to be located near North Knox High School north of Bicknell. Both agreements call for 300-to-500-foot setbacks for each facility from adjoining properties, emergency management training, designated construction hours and road improvements in the project area.
The moves were made with many in the audience expressing their displeasure, especially in the North Knox area. Those people were concerned with safety issues dealing with school students residing in the area and the effect of the new development on their quality of life.
There are a few more steps to be taken before final approval. If things go well, both of those solar projects could begin in 2030
