Marshall County Sheriff's K-9 deputy Blake Bennett arrested a 40-year-old man on multiple charges Monday night following a traffic stop that revealed driving violations and suspected drug possession.
The incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Dec. 16, in the area of U.S. 6 and Michigan Road.
During the traffic stop, the deputy identified the driver as Timothy Nichols, 40. A records check revealed Nichols was driving without ever having obtained a license and had a prior conviction for the same offense. He was also driving while suspended with a prior conviction.
During the stop, the deputy discovered suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Nichols also exhibited signs of being under the influence of drugs.
Nichols was transported for a chemical test to determine impairment. Following the test, he was taken to Marshall County Jail and booked on multiple charges:
- Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person
- Driving while suspended with a prior conviction
- Operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license with a prior conviction
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of paraphernalia
Nichols was held on a $1,505 bond.

They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
