Jeff Snyder, Captain of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, has filed an exploratory committee with the primary purpose of creating a committee to elect himself as Marshall County Sheriff.
Creating an exploratory committee is required to receive and expend funds to explore opportunities for elected office. Snyder said, “I fully anticipate having my name on the ballot for the 2026 election, and this will allow me to explore those options.”
I have served the citizens of Marshall County in various capacities with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department for over 26 years. I began my career in 1998 when I was hired as a turnkey dispatcher and then a patrolman in 2000. After graduating from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, he served as a patrolman and presided as a field training officer, among other assignments. Snyder was promoted to Detective Sergeant in 2012 when the focus of his responsibilities shifted from patrol tactics to criminal investigations. He was the lead investigator over major felony crimes as the Detective First Sergeant and Lieutenant. In 2023, Jeff Snyder was promoted to his current rank of Captain, the highest-ranking merit officer with the Sheriff's Department, responsible for supervising all police and civilian employees.
Snyder said, “I feel that I have dedicated my career to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department and that the citizens of Marshall County deserve a well-qualified and capable candidate to lead the Sheriff's Department into the future.”
