The investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident earlier this week in Jasper County, Illinois.
Reports from the sheriff's department indicate that deputies and emergency rescue personnel were called out by a 911 alert Wednesday night to a location about 1 1/2 miles east of the Illinois Highway 33 / Illinois Highway 49 intersection. Upon arrival, they discovered a male gunshot victim who was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Another male individual was arrested at the scene and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
The names of the victim and the alleged assailant have not been released.
The Illinois State Police Crime Services Investigation (CSI) was called in to assist in the case.
