An investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies has resulted in drugs off the street and the arrest of a Putnam County individual.
Over a two month period, Putnam County law enforcement officials, along with the Clay County Sheriff's Office, conducted an investigation, resulting in a search warrant being obtained for property belonging to Steven Brown.
The property was located at County Road 1000 South, just outside of Cloverdale in Putnam County.
Officers located and arrested Brown at the property. He was transported to the Putnam County Jail on preliminary charges of Level 2 Dealing in Methamphetamine and Level 2 Dealing in Cocaine and Level 6 Dealing in Marijuana, along with Level 3 charges for Possession of Methamphetamine and Cocaine. Prosecutor Austin Malayer will now finalize the charges that he deems to be pertinent to this case going forward.
According to law enforcement, approximately 11 pounds of suspected Methamphetamine, over an ounce of Cocaine, and several pounds of Marijuana. All drugs will be sent to the Indiana State Police Crime lab for final analysis and weight.
Putnam County Sheriff Jarrod Baugh credited the addition of more officers as a success in the investigation and arrested.
"Being able to assign deputies who are just out investigating and looking for those individuals who want to bring drugs into our community is a blessing, and my hopes are that the people in our community can feel a little safer in knowing that we have the resources and now the manpower to investigate, capture, and prosecute those responsible for doing just that," Baugh said.
