INDOT will host an open house today, Thursday, March 13, regarding proposed safety improvements to three U.S. 31 intersections in Marshall and Fulton counties and access control changes to six other crossings along the U.S. 31 corridor between south of County Road 700 and north of 16th Road.
The Marshall-Fulton U.S. 31 Corridor project aims to maintain reasonable access to the local highway system while reducing conflict points. Projects are needed at these locations because of safety concerns with the existing intersections.
INDOT is proposing new interchanges at the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Road 10 and the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Road 110, construction of a bridge over U.S. 31 at County Road 700, and modifications to existing access at other crossings in the 6-mile project area.
Representatives from INDOT, VS Engineering, which is leading design improvements, and other key project members will be on hand at the open house. The open house is an opportunity to view all of the options currently under consideration for these improvements and provide feedback to the team in advance of a formal public hearing set for 2026.
The open house will be held this evening in the cafeteria at Argos Community Jr.-Sr. High School, 500 Yearick Street, Argos, IN 46501. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. to allow participants to view displays and talk to representatives before a formal presentation, which will begin at 6:00 p.m.
A copy of the presentation is available on the INDOT website here and can be reviewed at Argos Public Library, Plymouth Public Library, Culver-Union Township Public Library in Culver, and the Fulton County Public Library in Rochester.
