Marshall County Sheriff Matthew Hassel announced Wednesday that the Indiana Sheriff's Association will award approximately 40 college scholarships of $1,000 each to high school seniors and college students pursuing degrees in criminal justice.
The scholarships are available to qualified students throughout Indiana who are committed to pursuing an education and career in law enforcement.
To qualify for a scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following criteria: be an Indiana resident, be a current member of the Indiana Sheriff's Association, or be a dependent child or grandchild of a current member, attend an Indiana college or university, major in a law enforcement field, and enroll as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours).
The Indiana Sheriff's Association Scholarship Fund was established to receive, invest, and dispense funds to provide educational support for students pursuing careers in law enforcement. The program helps develop the next generation of law enforcement professionals across Indiana.
Scholarship applications are available from several sources, including high school guidance counselors, at the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, 1400 Pioneer Drive in Plymouth, from the Indiana Sheriff's Association in Indianapolis, or online at indianasheriffs.org/programs/scholarship-program/
Applications must be completed and received by the Indiana Sheriff's Association on or before April 1st.
