Indiana State Senator Ryan Mishler (R-Mishawaka) represents Senate District 9, which includes German Township in Marshall County. He is also Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, and made the following statement on Thursday, following the state's latest Medicaid and revenue forecasts.
"Today's forecast indicates that Indiana is in a more positive financial position compared to this past April, putting us closer to where we thought we would be a year ago. While the forecast does not impact our current state budget, we will need to continue to ensure strong fiscal discipline and keep an eye out for future expenditure pressures that may need to be addressed in the 2027 budget.”
Senator Mishler continued, "I am also pleased to see there is now projected to be a positive annual Medicaid surplus, rather than a large deficit, in Indiana. This is welcome news and moves us closer to more historical levels of growth. I remain cautiously optimistic but am pleased to see the forecasts predict Indiana will remain in a good financial position. We still need to find ways to continue to slow the growth in the Medicaid program so that the state can fund other important priorities."
