A city police officer arrested a female from Dolton, Illinois, on Sunday morning after she was observed speeding on U.S. 30.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., Corporal Schieber initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling in excess of 70 miles per hour in a posted 50-mile-an-hour zone on U.S. 30 near Oak Drive.
The vehicle stopped in the middle of Pioneer Drive near Gary Drive, and the driver was identified as 28-year-old Jaleesa Deshazer.
Deshazer is the registered owner of the vehicle, which had a suspended registration. She was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail pending criminal charges for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
