Illinois State Police (ISP) Zone 8 has announced it is conducting Alcohol Countermeasure Surveillance (ACE) patrols at various establishments across southeastern Illinois.
Those patrols are used to determine if any businesses are selling alcohol to minors under the age of 21.
The goal is to enforce underage drinking laws and to prevent impaired driving accidents and fatalities during prom season.
21 locations were recently visited in Effingham County with four being involved in illegal sales to minors.
Two were located in Effingham and two were in Teutopolis.
Four employees were ticketed for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor, a Class A Illinois misdemeanor.
