The sectional pairings for the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s 50th Annual Girls Basketball State Tournament have been announced.
A total of 391 basketball teams will compete in the state tournament that begins Feb. 4 with sectional champions in all four classes being crowned on Feb. 8.
Regional championship games are Feb. 15 followed by semistate championships on Feb. 22.
Four state champions will be crowned on March 1 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Indian Creek Sectional
Shelbyville drops from Class 4A to 3A in 2025 and will compete in the 7-team Sectional 28.
The Golden Bears (12-9) will open their sectional tournament on Feb. 5 against Rushville – a team it defeated 46-42 on Jan. 14. With a win, Shelbyville would face either New Palestine (10-9) or Greenwood (3-17) on Feb. 7 in the semifinals.
In the tournament opener on Feb. 4, the host Braves (13-7) battle Beech Grove (10-10) with the winner advancing to the Feb. 7 semifinal round to take on Indianapolis Roncalli (13-8).
Triton Central Sectional
Class 2A, Sectional 43 features seven teams competing in Fairland – including a pair of top-20 ranked teams.
Class 2A, No. 16 Triton Central (12-8) will open the sectional on Feb. 5 against Heritage Christian (9-12), who defeated the Tigers 77-63 on Nov. 12.
The sectional opens Feb. 4 with Class 2A, No. 13 Eastern Hancock (18-2), who played in the semistate championship game in 2024, taking on Indianapolis Scecina (9-9). The winner returns Feb. 7 to face Irvington Prep (7-11).
The other quarterfinal contest on Feb. 5 pits Christel House (0-9) against KIPP Indy Legacy (4-9).
The Feb. 5 winners return Feb. 7 for a semifinal contest.
Southwestern Sectional
Southwestern is the host site for Class A, Sectional 59 which features eight teams, including three from Shelby County.
In the opening game Feb. 4, Edinburgh (9-12) takes on North Decatur (14-7). Class A, No. 12 Tri (15-7) follows against Morristown (12-7) – the Mid-Hoosier Conference champions.
The winners return Feb. 7 for a semifinal contest.
On Feb. 5, Knightstown (11-8) battles South Decatur (12-10) in the quarterfinal opener. The host Spartans (3-17) close out the opening round against Waldron (6-14) – who has defeated Southwestern twice this season.
The winners on Feb. 5 return two nights later for a semifinal contest.
Tri’s first two wins this season came against Waldron (61-30) and Morristown (71-36). The Titans are 9-1 against Class A opponents.
Morristown has defeated the rest of the sectional field except Knightstown. Those two teams meet on Tuesday in Morristown.
