With the extremely high temperatures and high humidity impacting the entire state, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is cautioning Lawrence County and other motorists to be on the lookout for pavement failures on state routes.
Road pavement failures, buckling and blowouts can occur with little warning during periods of prolonged heat and humidity, resulting in uneven driving surfaces. IDOT maintenance personnel will be monitoring area road conditions and be on standby to make repairs as quickly as possible.
The public can report pavement failures to IDOT by calling 1-800-452-4368 or by contacting local law enforcement agencies via 911.
