After being postponed last week, southbound I-65 will close this weekend in southeast Indianapolis, the first in a series of weekend closures anticipated in June and July as construction crews complete drainage improvements beneath lanes of the interstate.
Closures are scheduled for 9 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. June weekend closures are planned as follows:
I-65 Southbound Closure
Friday, June 20 through Monday, June 23
I-65 Northbound Closure
Friday, June 27 through Monday, June 30
The closures extend from the I-65/I-465 interchange to the I-65/I-70 interchange and include all entrance ramps to I-65, including Keystone Avenue, Raymond Street, Morris/Prospect Street, and I-70. During closures on southbound I-65, the ramp from Madison Avenue to eastbound I-70 will also close. Traffic will be detoured using I-465 and I-70.
Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time, when possible.
