Plymouth Police are informing the public on how to drive through the intersection of Lake Avenue, also known as State Road 17, Oak Drive, and Hillcrest Avenue.
City police say there have been issues recently at the intersection near Washington Discovery Elementary School. Drivers who are northbound on State Road 17 and traveling east or making a right turn onto Lake Avenue are required to stop if there is a red light.
For clarification, the right turn onto Lake Avenue is not a merge lane and does not have a yield sign; therefore, you must obey the traffic signals. You can turn right on a red light at this intersection if you come to a complete stop and then yield to any traffic that has the right-of-way.
The wide solid white line at the intersection is the stop line, indicating where you should stop at a red light.
The traffic control devices are placed by the Indiana State Highway Department (INDOT) because Lake Avenue is State Highway 17.
