What began as a family farm has turned into a huge business endeavor full of exotic animals, a corn maze, pumpkins and much more for the Hobson family.
For the 22nd year, Hobson Adventure Farm, 2301 Strawberry Road, Rockville, is welcoming families from Rockville and surrounding areas to take part in the fall festivities until the end of October.
"We are corn maze and pumpkin patch based out of Rockville. We have exotic animals like Humphrey our camel, kangaroos, lemurs, a porcupine, and some foxes. My dad came to my mom with the crazy idea of a corn maze and pumpkin patch years ago and it went from there. In the last few years, we decided we wanted to offer more and decided to bring the exotic animals into it, as well. We also offer attractions like a hayride, jumping pillow and big tube slide for anyone," Lindley Hobson told The Parke County Post.
After holding an opening weekend earlier this month, Hobson said her family have remained busy on the weekends in September and anticipate that continuing through the rest of September and into October.
"The opening weekend was better than we could have expected. We pride ourselves on giving back. We are supporting Parke County as a whole this year with our maze. The design is a map of Parke County. In our corn maze, you will see the map of Parke County and it says visit Parke County," Hobson said.
For Hobson, the farm truly is her life, as she notes she is running it while her parents work full time.
"It's good. I enjoy it. I can't imagine my life without it. It's been around since I was a baby, and I know my weekends in the fall are taken up by it, but I don't mind. We also have field trips during the week, so I stay busy," Hobson said.
Hobson Family Adventure is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.hobsonadventurefarm.com or call 765-562-3244.
