The Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a new director following the resignation announcement of Greg Ruark.
In an email to Giant FM, Ruark announced he has resigned his position effective immediately. Initially, Ruark said his resignation would be effective July 5, 2024.
Giant FM has reached out to Ruark and Greencastle mayor Lynda Dunbar for comment.
Ruark replied asking for “a little space” before commenting.
Ruark, who is a DePauw graduate, came to Greencastle in 2022 after spending four years as the parks director in Terre Haute.
Ruark oversaw the movement of Greencastle’s eclipse celebration from Robe-Ann Park to Big Walnut Sports Park, as well as the Easter Egg Hunt this year, noting both events were well received from residents and tourists at the new location.
It was announced recently the Phase II renovations at Robe-Ann Park have been delayed to mid July, while the city pool is closed until at least Wednesday due to a failed water test and ongoing issues.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
