Perry County authorities have confirmed the death of Jason Briscoe, a resident of Greencastle, following a drowning incident at Rainbow Lake over the weekend.
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a 911 call around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, alerting them to a potential medical emergency involving a man on a raft. The caller stated that Briscoe appeared to be in distress, seen hanging over the edge of the raft with his head submerged in the water.
Medics provided first aid to the unresponsive Briscoe but he was declared dead at the scene. Drowning has been listed as the preliminary cause of death following a Sunday autopsy.
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office says Briscoe’s death is still under investigation.
