Development of a five-year multi-county economic development plan was part of discussions held Wednesday with representatives of the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission (GWRPC) by Lawrence County leaders in Lawrenceville.
Angela Peyton, Director of the organization based out of Albion, Illinois told GIANT-FM News that they are hold meetings in the seven counties they serve to gain input into various needed projects for which state and federal grant funding is available.
Among the topics brought forward by local officials were public infrastructure needs, road construction and replacement, sidewalk construction, recreational parks and emergency services needs.
The GWRPC is funded through the federal Economic Development Agency (EDA) and serves seven counties in southeastern Illinois-Lawrence, Crawford, Richland, Edwards, White, Wabash and Edwards.
